Ok, I love trance music and every time I listen it it with someone else that doesn't listen to that type of music they automatically assume it's techno......IT'S NOT!
I'm not saying I don't like techno cause there are some rare songs that I like I wont deny it, but I like trance better
...plus there is a big different people listen to both of them and you'll hear it

Yeah, there are also those types of people who mistaken the entire electronic genres to be Techno, though Techno is pretty much a subgenre of it. Earlier (60s and 70s) electronic music was pretty much Avant-Garde and experimental (Krautrock, Synthpop, Disco and Ambient just to name a few), Techno was created in the 80s. Although there are some genres that derivate from Techno, like Hardcore and Eurodance
Also, Trance is somewhat more ambient than Techno, which is the big thing
